Mounties are investigating an attempted abduction in a small northwestern New Brunswick community.
RCMP said they responded to a call in Tilley, not far from Perth-Andover, around 9:40 a.m. Monday.
A man had allegedly approached a child and tried to get them into his vehicle on Walker Road.
“The child fought the man and ran to a neighbouring house. The man left the scene before police arrived,” Mounties said in a news release on Tuesday.
Investigators are seeking help from the public to identify the man involved in the incident.
He is described as being between 5’5″ and 5’8″ tall, heavy set, with black hair that is short in the front and longer in the black.
Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a man driving a white vehicle in the Walker Road area between 9 a.m. and noon on Monday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-423-8719 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
