Nearly 20,000 university and college students in New Brunswick received the New Brunswick Student Loan or the New Brunswick Bursary last year.
This week, the provincial government announced new funding to make sure they get even more support.
The province is investing $7.6 million of additional funds into the programs. That means the maximum weekly amounts are being increased from $140 to $200 for the loan and from $130 to $160 for the bursary.
“Having financial support can be a motivation for students to make it through their higher education and I am pleased that this will assist many students in that regard,” said Post-Secondary Education Minister Arlene Dunn in a news release.
Full-time post-secondary students can access the funding based on a variety of factors including family size and income. You can apply for the loan or bursary by clicking here.
Last year, more than 13,000 students received the New Brunswick Loan and more than 4,000 received the New Brunswick Bursary.
