New Brunswick physicians remain concerned about the ongoing risks of COVID-19.
The New Brunswick Medical Society has launched a new public awareness campaign.
In a news release, the society said the campaign is meant to “remind everyone that the virus is still very much present in our province.”
Dr. Michèle Michaud, president of the society, said reducing the spread is in everyone’s interest.
“Getting vaccinated and boosted, washing hands often, and wearing a mask when in crowds are simple measures we can all take to help us get back to normal sooner,” Michaud said in a recent news release.
According to the society, physicians are worried about increased cases, hospitalizations, wait times, surgery cancellations, and the overall impact of the virus on the health-care system.
While 85.6 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, only 54.1 per cent have received a booster shot, and just 24.9 per cent have received their second booster.
