The property at 1461 Manawagonish Road on Saint John’s west side will soon be re-developed.
On Tuesday, Saint John’s common council gave its final rezoning approval.
Councillor Greg Stewart was the only councillor to vote against the rezoning application.
The site was the location of the former Brenan’s Funeral Home Building.
It will be rezoned from commerical corridor to mid-rise residential.
The applicant plans to convert the existing building on the property into an 18-unit housing project.
They also have the intent to apply for affordable housing under provincial programs.
Plans for the site also include removing the access from Fairville Boulevard.
