The Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation (ASCF) is accepting applications for projects within Atlantic Canada and Quebec.
The Atlantic Salmon Conservation fund will support conservation and research projects with $1.5 million available for distribution.
“We know that conserving wild Atlantic salmon is important for the species and ecosystem. We also
want to help communities conserve their identities, culture, history, and economies reliant on wild
Atlantic salmon and its habitat,” reads a quote from Executive Director Charline McCoy in a news release.
The ASCF allocates funding annually to conservation projects across five provinces: Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The investment into community-led projects is drawn from an endowment fund established by the federal government in 2008.
Applications for 2023 are due November 15, 2022.
To date, the ASCF has granted a total of $12.5 million to 732 salmon conservation and research projects from over 1000 funding proposals, leveraging more than $62.3 million.
