An Omicron-specific bivalent COVID-19 vaccine is now available in New Brunswick.
Until now, only monovalent vaccines that protect against just one strain of the virus have been available in the province.
People 50 and older, those 12 to 17 who are immunocompromised or have a high-risk medical condition, and those 18 and older who live in a First Nations community are eligible to book an appointment this week.
Five months must have passed since the last dose or infection.
Those living in a long-term care facility will be offered the dose, along with their influenza vaccine, starting in October.
