Days of hot and humid weather are giving way to cool and wet conditions across the province.
Heat warnings that were in place for much of New Brunswick since last Thursday have ended.
They have been replaced by a special weather statement for central and most of southern New Brunswick.
Environment Canada says 30 to 50 millimetres of rain is possible before it tapers to showers on Tuesday.
Total amounts could exceed 50 millimetres in some areas, and the weather agency said rainfall warnings may be required.
“Areas from Victoria County through Carleton County and then eastward to Miramichi and Kent County, that seems to be the swath where the heavier precipitation may be falling,” said Jean-Marc Couturier, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.
Charlotte County is not included in the special weather statement. Rainfall totals of less than 20 millimetres are expected.
Couturier said the rest of the week also looks to be unsettled right across the province.
“Every second day, there would be a chance of showers, so that would be the case Thursday again and Friday we have some more cloudiness, so Thursday and Friday might be a little bit unsettled,” he said.
We will also see more seasonal temperatures with daytime highs between 22°C and 25°C.
Couturier said more sunshine is expected just in time for the weekend.
