AUDIO: N.B. Family Ends Two-Game Run On Family Feud

A New Brunswick family’s two-game run on the popular game show Family Feud Canada has come to an end.

The Quinn family from Quispamsis lost to the Singh family from Ontario during Wednesday night’s episode.

Mike Quinn said the whole experience was surreal for him and his entire family, which included his wife Dianne, sisters Heather Quinn and Susanne Cleghorn, and brother-in-law Tim Cleghorn.

“The producers are super pumped up, which only pumps you up more, but the whole thing is fun,” Quinn said in a phone interview.

“[Host] Gerry Dee really was a class act. He literally spent a lot of time with each one of us asking questions, telling stories.”

For those who have not watched the show, the premise is simple: try to guess popular answers to fun survey questions to get the most points.

The Quinns first submitted an application for Season 1 back in 2019 but missed the first round of auditions.

They were invited to audition for Season 2 in early 2020, but Quinn said the producers decided to only use families from Ontario due to the COVID-19 situation at the time.

“Just this past May or June, we got a call and they were like ‘hey, we still want you guys to be on Family Feud, are you still interested?’ And we were like ‘damn straight we’re interested,'” said Quinn.

The family finally got their call to go to Toronto this past November, where they filmed the two episodes.

Quinn said trying to guess the answers is much different in front of a live audience than doing it from the comfort of your living room.

“It’s definitely whatever pops into your head first and hopefully that’s on track, which it often wasn’t,” he said with a laugh.

In fact, Quinn said the producers said it is more fun for everyone involved if you get some of the answers wrong.

“The big message that one of the producers gave us was don’t go looking to win everything, just go to have fun. You might win everything and you might not, but at least you’ll enjoy the ride, and that’s what we did,” he said.

Quinn encouraged other families who are interested in being on the show to send in an application.

“As a family, it was a lot of fun coming up with the ideas, coming up with the dance routines, coming up with the introductions, and then choreographing it and then doing it live,” he said.

“There’s a lot of pressure at times, but it was a lot of fun, and how often do you get to say you were on a game show with your family.”
