The clean up from the last storm is barely finished but that won’t stop another winter storm from hitting New Brunswick this weekend.
Environment Canada says rain will change to snow tonight and continue tomorrow with 25 to 45 cm expected in total across the south with lesser amounts up north.
Meteorologist Jill Maepea says freezing rain is possible along the Fundy cost with a prolonged period of ice pellets in some areas of the south.
“Ice pellets generally don’t stick to structures or cause ice-buildup but they are extremely heavy to remove.”
Maepea says the wind will not be a major factor with this storm compared to the last storm.
This will be a long-lasting system and she says the snow won’t taper off until late Friday or early Saturday.
Maepea adds it will be a cold weekend behind this storm but no further active weather is in the short-term forecast.
A trough approaching the Maritimes is going to stall over us for the better part of two days. 😵 This means extended periods of snow (blue), ice pellets (pink) freezing rain (red) or rain (green) depending on your location. #nbstorm
