Residents in Saint John’s south/central peninsula will need to move their vehicles again Monday night.
The city has declared another temporary overnight parking ban from 11 p.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Vehicles left on the street during the parking ban could be ticketed and/or towed.
“While it is unusual for the City to declare back-to-back parking bans, we are grateful to the public for their cooperation as we can continue operations to widen streets for motorists and provide emergency vehicle access,” the city said in a news release.
“This additional ban will allow the City to prepare in advance for the anticipated snowfall later this week, in addition to the significant snowfall we’ve already received.”
Saint John has been walloped with nearly 100 centimetres of snow in the month of January, according to Environment Canada, and there is more in the forecast for later this week.
Five Saint John Parking lots will be cleared for use by on-street parking residents.
- Corner of Duke and Sydney streets
- Peters Street
- Carmarthen Street (Vineyard Church)
- Sydney Street (Service New Brunswick)
- Vulcan Street
Vehicles can park there any time after 6 p.m. Monday buy most be moved before 7 a.m. Tuesday. You can view a map of the parking ban lots on the city’s website by clicking here.
The Peel Plaza Parking Garage will also offer a $5 overnight parking rate between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Temporary overnight parking bans were also declared throughout the city over the weekend.
City officials said 26 tickets were issued and 21 vehicles were towed during Sunday night’s ban in the south/central peninsula.
However, there were no tickets issued or vehicles towed during a similar ban on Saturday night in the north, east and west areas of the city.
