New Brunswick Public Health announced 177 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the highest single-day increase since the pandemic began.
The new cases push the province’s total cases since the emergence of COVID-19 over the mark of 10,000.
Of the new cases today, 33 are in the Moncton region, 32 are in the Saint John region, 60 are in the Fredericton region, 17 are in the Edmundston region, three are in the Campbellton region, four are in the Bathurst region, and 28 are in the Miramichi region.
Following 81 recoveries, the active caseload rises to 1,237, which also signifies a new provincial record.
There are 41 New Brunswickers hospitalized with the virus, including 15 who are in an intensive care unit.
Additional data released on Thursday shows that 33.1 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and an additional 17,210 appointments have been booked.
Public Health reported that 82.5 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated, 89 per cent have received their first dose, and 11.1 per cent have received a booster dose.
