The New Brunswick labour force shrank by 2,500 jobs in July, according to the latest Labour Force Survey released by Statistics Canada.
The losses consist of about 1,000 full-time positions, as well as 1,500 part-time jobs.
Despite the decline in jobs, the provincial unemployment rate remains at 9.3% due to a smaller workforce.
Canada’s overall labour force recorded improvements, with 94,000 new jobs in July.
Another month of steady growth can be attributed to the loosening and removal of pandemic restrictions in some provinces.
Of the new jobs, about 35,000 are in the accommodation and food services sector said StatsCan.
The national unemployment rate is 7.5%.
