GoodLife Fitness says its Brunswick Square location in Saint John will not re-open.
The location in the city’s uptown has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19.
Brad Hawkins, senior director of operations, said it was a “difficult but necessary decision.”
“After a careful review and consideration of the needs of the community and our offerings in the surrounding area, we decided this club was not one we could reopen,” Hawkins said in a statement.
“Given the offerings and capacity of clubs in the area, we feel very confident that we can meet and exceed our members’ needs.”
GoodLife has locations at McAllister Place in Saint John and Village Place in Quispamsis.
Hawkins said members from the Brunswick Square location were given the option to work out at either the McAllister Place or Village Place location when they reopened last year.
Those who have used their membership at either location have automatically had their membership transferred to the location they used the most, he said.
“Any decision that impacts our employees and members is always very difficult to make, and not one we take lightly. This is in no way a reflection of the incredible passion and dedication of our Associates,” said Hawkins.
“We remain committed to the health and fitness of our members in Saint John and look forward to supporting them at our other two clubs.”
