New Brunswick Public Health reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Friday which includes two travel-related cases of New Brunswickers who are isolating outside the province.
The Moncton zone adds three new cases involving two people in their 20s and one in their 30s. All three cases are contacts of previously confirmed cases.
In the Saint John region, there is one new case involving a person in their 50s, the case is travel related.
The Bathurst region has three new cases involving two people in their 50s and one in their 60s.
One of the cases is travel-related, another is a contact of a previously confirmed case and the third is being investigated.
The Miramichi region adds one new case involving a person in their 50s and it is travel related.
Ten people recovered since Thursday bringing the number of active cases to 140.
Eight patients are in the hospital including two in an intensive care unit. Three of the patients are being hospitalized in another province.
New Brunswickers in another province, when diagnosed with COVID-19, are recorded as provincial statistics as long as they have a valid Medicare card and a New Brunswick address.
The cases which include hospitalizations in another province are counted in the health zones of their home communities.
The outbreak at the Murray Street Lodge in Grand Bay-Westfield, which involved one case of COVID-19, has been declared over by Public Health.
