Greater Saint John residents can help spread some joy and grant a wish for a young boy this weekend.
Five-year-old James is in palliative care at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was diagnosed with a genetic disorder and is suffering from liver failure.
His last wish is to have a parade of police vehicles, fire trucks, construction vehicles, along with cars and bikes in his honour.
Make-A-Wish Canada has teamed up with local first responders and others to organize a parade by the hospital at 10 a.m. Saturday.
First responders, emergency vehicles and corporate vehicles are encouraged to begin lining up for the parade between 9 and 9:30 a.m. The first vehicles will line up in the right-hand lane of University Avenue at the bottom entrance to the hospital across from Canadian Blood Services.
Citizens taking part can begin lining up along Sandy Point Road on the right-hand side across from Cedar Crest Gardens. Once the parade begins to move, you will be directed on Sandy Point Road onto University Avenue.
Saint John Police Force officers will be there conducting traffic and participants are asked to keep a mask handy should they have to roll down their window for instructions or directions.
Residents who want to take part in the parade must register by emailing kristin.mccurdy@makeawish.ca.
For those unable to attend, the parade will be streamed live on the Make-A-Wish Canada, New Brunswick Facebook page.
