Fredericton police are searching for a 38-year-old man who is reported to have gone into the Saint John River.
Police say Andrew James Spencer was last seen near the river in the 100 block of Woodstock Road around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
“It was reported that he may have entered the river and had not come out. Police have been unable to locate him at this time,” police said in a news release.
Spencer is described as 5’10” tall, weighing 180 pounds, with short brown hair, facial hair and blue eyes.
According to police, he is known to frequent the downtown area offering ‘a poem for a penny.’
Emergency response divers have been requested for an underwater search. The city fire department’s Marine Unit, drone technology and forward-looking infrared cameras were also deployed.
