The prime minister says he sympathizes with Canadians who are hesitant about COVID vaccines.
As Canada pauses administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to those under 55, Justin Trudeau admits it can be confusing.
“I understand how challenging this can be for Canadians. The science is evolving as we get more and more data, experts are refining and shifting their recommendations,” Trudeau said.
The prime minister repeated his statement that the best vaccine to get is “The first one offered to you.”
Meantime Trudeau is touting the number of COVID vaccines Canada is receiving.
He points out the country will receive 3.2 million doses this week from Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.
Looking ahead, Trudeau noted Pfizer is stepping up and giving us millions more doses earlier than expected saying, “Pfizer has now confirmed that they will be moving up 5 million doses from later in the summer into June.”
That, Trudeau explains will “Bring our total from 4.6 million to 9.6 million doses for that month alone.”
To date, the prime minister says more than 6 million vaccine doses have been delivered to the provinces.
