Grab the umbrella when you head out the door Friday morning.
Environment Canada says up to 40 millimetres of rain could fall over parts of southern New Brunswick.
Meteorologist Jill Mapea said a system moving in from the southwest will bring rain by late morning or shortly after noon Friday.
“That rain will continue through the day tomorrow and then we’re expecting to see a changeover to freezing rain and ice pellets overnight on Friday and eventually some light snow and flurries on the back end of the system,” Mapea said.
“It looks to be anywhere between 25 to 40 millimetres and maybe some localized areas of heavy amounts. We might also here a few rumbles of thunder as well,” Mapea said.
A rainfall warning was issued late Thursday afternoon for much of central and southern New Brunswick, including Saint John, the Kennebecasis Valley, Sussex, Grand Lake and Fredericton.
A special weather statement is in effect for Charlotte County, where lesser amounts of rain are likely.
Parts of northern New Brunswick could see up to 25 centimetres of snow.
A second system moving in on Sunday may bring more rain and freezing for southern New Brunswick.
