Saint John’s new municipal website is up and running.
City staff had been working on the site even before a ransomware attack took down its network last November. The city has used an interim website with limited functionality in the meantime.
The new website features information on all city services, recreation facilities and trails, and neighbourhood history courtesy of historian David Goss.
Mayor Don Darling said he was excited for residents to see what the site has to offer.
“The new website looks very exciting,” Darling said. “The prevalence of our social feeds, the focus on customer service… I’m sure that’ll provide lots of interesting data.”
I.T. Manager Sarah Ranson was the lead manager on the website’s development.
She says the neighbourhood page provides valuable information for those who may be looking to move to or start a business in Saint John.
“This section was created to help newcomers familiarize themselves with their neighbourhoods and other neighbourhoods in the city,” Ranson said. “It’s also for potential newcomers to help find a place to live.”
Darling said the website typifies all that the city has to offer.
“This is Saint John: quality of life, look at how beautiful it is,” Darling said. “The only thing I’m afraid of is Mr. Goss’ ghost walks, because I’m afraid of ghosts.”
