The commute home could be challenging as southern New Brunswick remains under a freezing rain warning.
Jill Mapea of Environment Canada said we could see eight hours of freezing rain or more.
“We are not entirely sure how much is going to fall just as straight freezing rain or will it stay mixed with some ice pellets. If it does stay mixed, it tends to be a little bit better in terms of ice accumulation on cold surfaces. If it gets mixed with the pellets it doesn’t stick as well,” Mapea said.
Winter storm warnings are also in place for places like Fredericton, Sussex, the Kennebecasis Valley, St, Stephen and northern Charlotte county.
“We are not expecting a lot of snow in the Saint John area but if you come up towards Fredericton we are expecting up to 15 centimetres along with a mix of ice pellets and freezing rain,” Mapea said.
Mapea said the freezing rain will end tonight.
“Around 8 or 9 tonight, the precipitation will taper off to a drizzle or scattered flurries,” Mapea said.
Mapea adds they are not anticipating any really strong winds with this system.
Northern New Brunswick could see up to 30 centimetres of snow.
