A historic fixture of the Saint John City Market will be under new ownership.
Slocum & Ferris, which was founded in 1895 and has received international press for its dulse-related products, has been sold.
Dave Forestell and Sherrie Boyd have decided to no longer operate the stall, and have sold it to a numbered company — 721360 N.B. Ltd. — which lists Corey Dugas as the president.
A new lease agreement for the space is part of the January 25 city council package.
According to a staff report in the package, the new owners plan to continue operating the business as Slocum & Ferris and will continue to offer most of the services and menu items as were offered before.
“They will be providing more take-home options such as pre-made meals and take-home meal kits,” the report states. “They will be expanding on the baking production and offering fresh baked products for retail as well as wholesale.”
The five-year lease agreement, which includes an option to renew for five more years, must still be approved by council.
