New Brunswick reported 10 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, all in the Fredericton health region (Zone 3).
Public Health said the new cases involve three people under the age of 19, two people in their 20s, one person in their 30s, one in their 40s, one in their 50s, one in their 60s, and one in their 70s.
All 10 cases remain under investigation, but Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s chief medical officer of health, said they suspect “a number of” these cases are connected.
“We are currently undergoing rigorous contact tracing to confirm,” Dr. Russell said in a news release. “We are also assessing the situation to see if further action is required to control the spread.”
There are now 34 known active cases across the province, with no new recoveries reported since Friday.
The Fredericton health region (Zone 3) has 18 active cases, the Moncton region (Zone 1) has six, and the Edmundston region (Zone 4) has five cases.
There are two active cases in the Miramichi region (Zone 7) and one each in the Saint John (Zone 2), Campbellton (Zone 5) and Bathurst (Zone 6) regions.
As of Saturday, one person is hospitalized in intensive care.
