Public Health has provided some advice about how to safely enjoy the holiday season during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says New Brunswickers should focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t do this year.
“Start by keeping your gatherings small – I cannot emphasize this enough. Keep your circle of contacts consistent and small. No matter where you live in New Brunswick, I don’t think there’s any outbreak up to this point that hasn’t involved a large number of close contacts.”
Public Health is advising against non-essential travel and residents and visitors must self-isolate for 14 days upon arriving in New Brunswick.
Dr. Russell reminds travellers that COVID-19 case counts are much higher elsewhere and the risk of bringing the virus back home is greater.
If you must travel, Dr. Russell says avoid peak times and layovers and follow public health guidelines especially in airports and other indoor spaces.
She also encourages everyone to download the COVID-19 app to your phone.
