Changes to the Orange level of pandemic recovery mean a lot of business will remain open this time around in Zone 1, the Moncton region.
Premier Blaine Higgs said restaurant dining rooms can stay open under the Orange phase along as tables are limited to a single household bubble.
Higgs said gyms can stay open as long as they follow an operational plan for safety.
“Such as two metres of distancing for low-intensity fitness classes like yoga and three metres for high-intensity activities like spin classes. Fitness centres must have active screening measures in place. Keep a record of patrons in closed locker rooms and other common areas,” Higgs said.
Higgs said salons can also stay open this time around.
“Personal services such as hairstylists and non-regulated health professionals may remain open as long as they have an operational plan outlining enhanced measures such as active screening, closed waiting rooms and enhanced barriers,” Higgs said.

Higgs acknowledged promising news about a vaccine but noted it’s not here yet. He urged New Brunswickers to stay vigilant.
“We need to keep our outbreaks under control and secure our bubble. As Dr. Russell said, we are so close. We are within 100 days or less, or maybe slightly more, but we are so close. We see every day news around a vaccine,” Higgs said.
