New Brunswick health officials have recorded the province’s third death related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Public Health says a person in their 60s died Sunday in Zone 1 (Moncton region) from “underlying complications, including COVID-19.”
The person was a resident of the Notre Dame Manor and was one of the cases connected to the ongoing outbreak in Moncton.
Additionally, five new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 104.
Three of the new cases are in the Campbellton region, individuals ranging in age from under 19 to 59 and the cases are still under investigation.
The two other cases are in the Moncton region — one person is in their 70s, the other in their 80s — and both are linked to previous cases.
Health authorities have also identified a positive case in a traveler who may have been infectious on October 8th.
They are asking anyone who was on Air Canada Flight 8954 from Toronto to Fredericton to self-monitor for symptoms and call 8-1-1 if they develop any.
Elsewhere in Atlantic Canada, Nova Scotia reported two new cases of the virus for a total of six active cases.
Newfoundland and Labrador have not yet reported any new cases.
