Tougher penalties are coming for air travellers who don’t wear masks.
Transport Canada has required masks on all flights in the country since April, but WestJet will now turn you away for a year if you don’t comply.
That airline will ask you a few times as part of the boarding process, but if you still don’t put on a mask, you will be kicked off your flight and will be banned. The zero-tolerance policy also applies to WestJet Encore, WestJet Link, and Swoop.
The WestJet Group also announced all passengers will be required to give their contact information at online and kiosk check-in.
The new rules take effect on Tuesday, September 1st.
