New Brunswick’s first woman finance minister is not reoffering for the provincial Liberals in the riding of Moncton South.
After considerable thought, Cathy Rogers has announced on Facebook that she’s sad but ready to leave politics.
Rogers feels she’s letting everyone down including her caucus, constituents and riding association.
She says she intended to serve two or three mandates as an MLA.
However, she wants to spend more time with family including her grandchildren and caring for her life partner who has been ill.
Rogers was also minister of social development and minister of healthy and inclusive communities in the Brian Gallant government.
