The Saint John Police Force and the New Brunswick SPCA are investigating what they describe as an alleged incident of animal abuse.
In a statement released Sunday, police said a video was posted to a social media platform over the weekend showing the alleged abuse.
Police did not provide any details about the video, except to say they and the SPCA are aware of it.
“The SJPF and SPCA want to thank everyone for their calls and concern about this matter, “said the statement from police.
The Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue also confirmed the incident is under investigation by police and the provincial SPCA.
“We understand and share your concern in this matter but we need to keep our emergency lines open for medical emergencies and animal control in our region. Please discontinue calling our animal control line and Facebook messages about their investigation,” said the agency in a Facebook post.
In conjunction with officials from the SPCA, SJPF is investigating an incident of alleged animal abuse.
