The tourism industry is starting to find its balance in how to virtually promote a staycation.
Victoria Clarke, the executive director of Discover Saint John, says like the rest of the world, we’re in recovery.
“The businesses and attractions around Saint John have done extraordinary work and have gone through extraordinary lengths to make sure they have operation plans that are COVID compliant,” she said.
Clarke showed some examples of the good and services available in Saint John through a video series called “Sampling Saint Awesome”
“Go and take a look at Discover Saint John dot com and in our high tide blog, you’ll see a series of videos I made during COVID and I continue to make from my kitchen table to speak to our clients,” she said.
Clarke said at first it was a difficult mindset to try to show Saint John to people who live in it, but now the biggest challenge now is reminding people it’s safe to leave their homes.
“We’re uniquely placed along the Bay of Fundy, we’re the only the urban experience on high tide in the world, and as restrictions are being lessened and loosened here in New Brunswick, we started to tell the story of individual businesses,” she said.
