Check your fridges for a well-known brand of bagged salads – they’re now subject to a recall.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Fresh Express is recalling salad products due to possible Cyclospora contamination.
The list of recalled salads is long and includes Chopped Kit Southwest, Chopped Kit Asian, 3 Color Deli Cole Slaw, and Iceberg Garden salad.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the salads in Canada, though the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 23 people have been hospitalized and 206 have lab-confirmed infections after eating bagged salad mix from a company named Fresh Express.
Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store.
People infected with Cyclospora can experience a wide range of gastrointestinal symptoms. Few people get seriously ill.
The CFIA is following up to make sure the products are removed from shelves.
