Outgoing Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer continues to call on the Trudeau government to hold in-person sittings of parliament.
Scheer feels the Liberal government isn’t being accountable for their COVID-19 pandemic spending and is asking MPs and the opposition to pass legislation with very little time for scrutiny.
“The government wants opposition parties to agree to pass omnibus legislation in just a few hours this week and then pass $87 billion in new spending next week so that NDP and Liberal MPs can take the summer off,” Scheer said.
Scheer also wants the minority government to provide a financial update by the end of the month.
The Prime Minister has said in the past that his daily updates on COVID-19 programs and spending are just one of the ways his government is informing Canadians of what they are using taxpayer dollars toward.
