For the fourth consecutive day, New Brunswick has no new cases of COVID-19.
The province has only 14 active cases and no one has been admitted to hospital with the virus since April 12.
The number of confirmed cases remains at 118 and 104 people have recovered.
Five patients have been hospitalized, including one patient in an intensive care unit.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says we have been successful in the early stage of the pandemic.
“Many of the dire consequences that other jurisdictions are experiencing have not come to pass in New Brunswick. But this does not mean that we are in the clear.”
“I ask (New Brunswickers) to continue to observe the restrictions set under the provincial state of emergency and continue to take precautions against the spread of the virus, even when those restrictions have been eased,” said Russell.
Ramadan begins on April 23 and Russell reminded New Brunswick’s Muslim community that gatherings are not permitted during the pandemic and must be limited to one household.
