A winter-like storm will bring heavy snow, strong winds and storm surge to New Brunswick.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for nearly the entire province, including the Saint John region.
Forecasters are calling for around 15 centimetres of snow in the city before it tapers off Friday afternoon.
Inland areas such as the Kennebecasis Valley, Sussex, St. Stephen and Fredericton can expect 15 to 25 centimetres.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” said the national weather agency.
Meanwhile, a storm surge warning has been issued for areas along the Fundy coast.
Environment Canada said storm surge will coincide with high astronomical tide to produce “significantly elevated” water levels.
“Coastal flooding is possible along the shoreline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas. People close to the shoreline should stay on the lookout for worsening conditions,” said the agency.
