More federal institutions are limiting public access to limit any spread of COVID-19.
The Correctional Service of Canada has suspended inmate visits at all federal institutions.
It says other options are available to inmates and their family and friends to stay in contact, such as video visitation or telephone.
CSC says health officials in its institutions are prepared to deal with COVID-19 and have an emergency plan in case of an outbreak.
Officials add there are no confirmed cases of the virus in federal jails.
