Canadians are uncovering hundreds and even thousands of dollars in unclaimed cheques from the Canada Revenue Agency.
The CRA recently launched a tool on its website which allows Canadians to see if they have any uncashed cheques.
Few people seemed to know about the feature — that is until a Twitter user named @3rdPeriodSuits posted about it last week.
“$12,000 from 2006! You are a legend,” replied one user on the social media platform.
“Just found $700 from 2011! Whoa!” replied another.
FYI
My Account on the CRA website has a section of “uncashed cheques”.
Highly suggest checking to see if you’ve got any. I had 105 dollars from 2017.

On its website, CRA said there are many reasons why Canadians may have uncashed cheques.
“For example, someone may have moved and not updated their address, believed the payment was issued to them in error, or the cheque may have been lost, stolen, or destroyed,” said the agency.
You can view your unclaimed cheques by visiting CRA’s “My Account” portal. Under “related services,” you will see an option called “uncashed cheques” at the bottom.
If you do have uncashed cheques, you will need to fill out a form requesting a duplicate payment.
The CRA urges Canadians to sign up for direct deposit so they “never miss another payment.”
