The group PETA is proposing a new way to predict the weather on Groundhog Day.
They sent a letter to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club asking them to retire Phil and another groundhog, and replace them with an animatronic groundhog, who could determine an early spring or longer winter using artificial intelligence.
In the letter, PETA says by creating this A-I Phil, Punxsutawney could still be at the centre of the annual tradition, but we could use technology to predict the weather instead.
Groundhog Day is on Sunday.
