Fans of the popular uptown restaurant En Sushi Bar were disappointed to learn that it had shut down early in the New Year.
“On behalf of Enchan, Melissa and all our staff we thank you for the pleasure of serving you, our lovely friends and customers for 6 1/2 years,” said the restaurant’s Facebook post on January 4. “We will have many wonderful memories and we hope you will as well. We wish you all a wonderful 2020 moving forward.”
Huddle reached out to the restaurant and was told that the owners wouldn’t be doing interviews on the closure.
It was the second closure of a popular uptown restaurant with Urban Deli closing for good just after Christmas.
En Sushi patrons were certainly disappointed by the news. Here’s a sampling of what was posted on Facebook:
“I was just telling friends in Bangkok about the delicious sushi spot back home and the sweetheart owners! Can’t believe you are closing, but time marches on. Best of luck in your next adventure. Thank you for all the yummy eats guys!”
“Thank you for bringing us the best sushi! Your delicious food and the kindness of your team will never be forgotten. Praying hard that you re-open somewhere else. Your fabulous sushi has become part of our necessary routine. Having said that I am wishing you all the best for 2020 and a sincere thanks for everything. You are the BEST.”
“Every single piece of Sushi that you made was a unique piece of art. Sad news. But I hope your next adventure is even bigger!”
There are still three places where you can eat sushi in the city centre: Ta-Ke Sushi on King Street, Sense of Tokyo on Waterloo Street, and Pink Sushi in Brunswick Square.
