Canadian clothing and footwear retailer Mark’s is setting up shop in McAllister Place.
The store will be opening up in the mall in spring 2020, McAllister Place has confirmed. The store is currently located nearby at 171 McAllister Drive.
“We are very excited to announce Mark’s Work Warehouse is opening at McAllister Place Spring 2020,” said McAllister Place marketing manager Tanya McCluskey-Kelly, via email. “Mark’s Work Warehouse will be located in the newly redeveloped former Sears location.”
Since Sears closed its doors in the mall in 2018, McAllister Place has been redeveloping the space the department store left behind. The rebuild will offer approximately 100,000 [square feet] of new construction accommodating a number of large-format retailers, as well as a new common area that will give interior access to the new stores.
National furniture chain The Brick is also getting ready to open up shop in two New Brunswick cities.
The company has posted job openings for various positions for both Saint John and Fredericton online. The jobs include store managers, delivery drivers, general sales manager, retails operations manager and customer service associates.
Huddle reached out to Saint John’s McAllister Place, which is currently undergoing a BIG renovation of its former Sears location. A spokesperson said it was unable to confirm or deny the store opening there at this time.
Huddle also reached out to Fredericton’s Regent Mall, which is also undergoing renovations since Sears closed. Marketing manager Myrna Brideau said via email that they also couldn’t confirm or deny the store opening.
“At this time we cannot confirm or deny that the Brick will be coming to Regent Mall,” she said.
“We are working diligently to fill the Sears block, but there are no announcements at this time.”
Huddle reached out to The Brick, but also did not receive a response by the time of publication.
