It may be almost mid-December, but you can put away your parkas and trade them for raincoats over the next couple of days.
A rainfall warning has been issued for southern and central New Brunswick with mild temperatures and up to 65 millimetres of rain expected in some areas.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Spencer Clements says a low pressure system is moving quickly into the region.
“Rain showers will become steadier through this afternoon. Then we’re looking at a period of heavy rain tonight and into Tuesday morning,” said Clements.
Since the ground may be frozen and with a snowpack in some areas, Clements says that could lead to significant run-off and melting causing localized flooding.
Strong winds are also expected, with gusts up to 80 km/h by Monday night.
A wind warning has been issued for Saint John and Grand Manan, where gusts could reach 90 km/h.
Clements says it will turn much colder by Wednesday with some snow possible.
