The Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick is preparing for its first annual general meeting since forming government last fall.
Rick Lafrance, the party’s executive director, said close to 400 people have signed up for this weekend’s event in Fredericton.
Lafrance said the event will include the annual business meeting and election of party executives, a women’s AGM, and a youth AGM.
“We’re also celebrating our federal candidates for all their hard work in the last election and also celebrating their teams,” said Lafrance.
Premier Blaine Higgs and his ministers will also give a presentation on the government’s top six priorities, which were unveiled in September.
They include affordable and responsive government; dependable public health care; world-class education; energized private sector; vibrant and sustainable communities; and high-performing organization.
“They want to make sure that all New Brunswickers are informed, so what a great opportunity at this time to have them share with us what the six priorities will be,” Lafrance said.

Lafrance said there is a lot of hype heading into this year’s AGM as it “could probably be” the last one before the next election.
“We know that it’s a minority government and we have two byelections that will be called no later than the spring,” he said.
The riding of Shediac Bay-Dieppe became vacant after Liberal MLA Brian Gallant resigned in early October.
Saint Croix Conservative MLA Greg Thompson passed away from cancer in September at the age of 72.
The annual general meeting takes place at the Fredericton Inn from 2 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
