Hustlers is gleefully brazen tale in a post-MeToo world that goes down like quality champagne.
Directed by Lorene Scafaria, (The Meddler) and based on the 2015 New York Magazine article The Hustlers at Scores, the film is a dazzling morally and ethically grey capitalist Robin Hood tale of robbing from Wall Street fat cats and giving to themselves.
In the aftermath of the 2008 recession, a group of savvy strippers at one of New York City’s most exclusive clubs, led by veteran Ramona, (Jennifer Lopez, Out of Sight) and single mother Destiny, (Constance Wu, Crazy Rich Asians), make a plan to turn the tables on their clients.
Keke Palmer, (Scream Queens), Lili Reinhart, (Riverdale) Lizzo, Cardi B and Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale) star as their fellow cohorts who fleece their marks for thousands of dollars, with Julia Stiles, (10 Things I Hate About You) as the reporter who reports on their scam in the aftermath.
The scam is dead; long live the scam!
Hustlers opens in theatres on September 13.
