Eight people have been arrested and drugs and firearms seized in connection with an alleged drug trafficking operation in New Brunswick.
Early Wednesday morning, RCMP carried out search warrants at five homes — on Dominion Street, Donovan Terrace and Lester Avenue in Moncton, on Homestead Road in Steeves Mountain and in Douglas, outside Fredericton.
Mounties seized drugs believed to be methamphetamine and cocaine along with firearms and cash.
Five men and three women, ranging in age from their late teens to late forties, were arrested during the searches.
A 26-year-old man was also held in custody while the others were released with four on promises to appear in court at later dates.
In Moncton court on Thursday, Jesse Todd Logue was charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and is being held in custody until another court date next week.
RCMP say this investigation began in early 2019 and has involved members and specialized units from across the province, as well as the Fredericton Police Force and the Woodstock Police Force.
