The Higgs government will not be providing exemptions to the fracking moratorium in the Sussex-area as planned.
In a statement on its website, Corridor Resources says the government has advised them that it is unable to consider applications for an exemption to the moratorium as they undertake a consultation process with the New Brunswick First Nations.
The province also says predicting the timeline for when the consultation process will be completed is difficult.
Corridor Resources says because of the regulatory uncertainty in New Brunswick, they are limited in their ability to market the Frederick Brook Shale prospect.
Marketing plans are on hold until the moratorium is lifted in connection with their licenses and the New Brunswick regulatory process becomes clear and consistent with other oil and gas producing jurisdictions.
In addition to its shale gas prospect, Corridor Resources has natural gas production and reserves in the McCully Field near Sussex.
