Sandra Irving and Mira Stephenson will receive the 2019 Red Cross Humanitarian Awards for New Brunswick.
Irving is being recognized for support of educational, medical, environmental and veterinary institutions along with her support of students at several universities through scholarships, mentorship and exchange programs.
She is also a supporter of the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown.
Rothesay native Mira Stephenson, a student at Western University, is the recipient of the 2019 Young Humanitarian Award.
While attending Rothesay Netherwood School, she chaired Youth for Youth, which hosted concerts by students to raise funds and awareness for the Teen Resource Centre.
Stephenson also volunteered to help patients with Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases and developed a program to involve high school students in volunteering and planning special events at a local nursing home.
At university, she is part of the Dream Team, which raises awareness and funds for the Make A Wish Foundation.
Irving and Stephenson receive their awards at a fundraising dinner in Saint John on November 6th at the Delta Marriott.
