The big screen adventure of Dora the Explorer and her best monkey pal Boots is the perfect end-of-summer film to take your kids to before school starts up once again.
Teenaged Dora (Isabela Moner, Instant Family) spent most of her life exploring the South American jungles with her professor mother (Eva Longoria, Desperate Housewives) and father (Michael Peña, Ant-Man). Unfortunately, her idyllic life is turned upside down when her parents send Dora to live with family in Southern California, instead of joining them on the search for an Incan city of gold.
Dora must learn to navigate the urban jungle that is high school. However, when she learns her parents have been kidnapped Dora eagerly leads her beloved Boots, cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg, Counterpart) and ragtag group of her peers on adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery of a lost Inca civilization.
The film is the perfect introduction to the action-adventure genre for kids. Moner is the pitch perfect embodiment of the adorable children’s entertainment icon, deftly defying danger with her physical skills, smarts and natural leadership skills. Indiana Jones had better watch his back (and his hat!).
Dora and the Lost City of Gold opens in theatres on August 9.
