So here we are.
Last work day before my vacation. I have realized something, the day before vacation is almost like vacation itself, isn’t it?
There’s a certain level of “My Give A Dam’s Busted” that can only be achieved just before “time off” kicks in. And I admit, I am feeling it today.
I know what you might be thinking, “Trish, you have a great job! How can you be this excited to take time off?”
Answer: I DO have one of the best jobs in the world. I love what I do and I can’t see me doing anything else.
Ever.
I have so much fun each day on-air, I get to meet all kinds of fantastic artists and see so many killer shows. Not to mention being able to meet so many of you, listeners that become friends and feel like family. I am very fortunate.
To be honest, I don’t know anything else. Radio has been my thing my entire working life and I don’t know what else I would even want to do. That being said, even the greatest jobs are still work at times.
Vacation means no alarm clock, no timetable, no schedule and no commitments unless you make them. It’s waking up when you want, or going back to bed if you choose. Vacation is unrestricted freedom and to ME, it’s something we all need. No matter what you do.
But the day before vacation…my mind is a mess. It’s the collision of “Work Trish” and “Vacation Trish” and honestly, neither one ever wins. And how productive am I supposed to be when a whole world of adventure is just hours away? I can’t wait! I hope you get some time to enjoy at your own pace this summer.
But I do, I love my job and after all, doesn’t absence make the heart grow fonder anyway?
