The never-ending nightmare of the gig economy is showcased in hilarious R-rated summer comedy Stuber that has the potential to make audiences laugh and fellow giggers wince.
Beta-male, unlucky-in-love LA Uber driver Stu (Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Sick) picks up passenger Vic, (Dave Bautista, Guardians of the Galaxy) hoping he will get a five-star rating.
Unfortunately, what he gets is a harrowing night when he is recruited by Vic, an old-school detective, into keeping on the trail of ruthless drug trafficker and cop killer Oka Teijo (Iko Uwais, The Raid). To top off a crazy night, Vic is recovering from Lasik surgery so Stu must be the detective’s sight while keeping his wits about him, avoiding danger and providing his passenger with the highest-quality ride experience.
Bautista and Nanjiani make a hilarious duo, joined by Natalie Morales (The Grinder), Betty Gilpin (GLOW), Mira Sorvino (Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion) and Karen Gillan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and last, but not least, an adorable, slobbery good-boy dog.
Stuber opens at the Cineplex Cinemas Saint John on July 12.
