A search and rescue at the Fundy Trail Parkway took place Friday evening.
Just before 7 PM, the Simonds Fire Department and the St. Martins Fire department were called to the Fundy Footpath to locate an injured, lost hiker.
Both departments were staged at Parking Lot 15 and set up search and rescue operations.
After two hours, the exact location of the hiker was confirmed.
Due to the location and tough terrain, additional help was called in from the RCMP and CFB Greenwood.
A helicopter was used to extract the injured hiker, with some assistance from the Sussex search and rescue.
He was airlifted to the Moncton Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
