This is Asian Heritage Month in New Brunswick and the Saint John Asian Heritage Society is holding its 11th annual celebrations.
Director and Chair of the Society Somiditya Das tells our newsroom they have something very special lined up for each weekend in May including this Saturday.
Das said “We are having a festival of Light called Eastern Lights at Lily Lake Pavillion, this will be a celebration of the International Day of Light for the first time in Saint John.”
Das mentions it will include plenty of cultural and educational aspects, sunset yoga and then , something beautiful.
” After sundown we are planning to float 300 lit candles on the Lily Lake and I think that will be a beautiful spectacle to watch, stated Das”
The Society received a total of $20,000 ingovernment funding to help with its festivities.
