It’s time for the annual Bowl For Kids Sake for Big Brothers Big Sisters Saint John. The theme is “Star Wars” and it fits well because it is on May 4th, which is May the Force Be With You Day for “Star Wars” enthusiasts.
Close to 100 teams will be participating at Fairview Lanes and organizer Rhoda Welshman tells us they have re-created the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and turned the place into a galactic space area for the day, and there could be some interesting visitors.
“I’m pretty sure that Darth Vader and Princess Leia are dropping by and some Stormtroopers, hopefully she jokes there will be no serious battles, but it is sure to be a good time.” Welshman said.
We couldn't resist "testing out" the #StarWars themed items/toys prior to putting them in the #BowlforKidsSake team captain's kits 🚀🎈Look what you're missing if you are not signed up yet for #BFKS! Welshman says this is the largest fundraiser of the year for them and on average they usually get anywhere from $130,000 to $140,000.
In 2018 they had the best year ever with $219,000 raised for the groups various programs.
Welshman is urging participants to dress in theme and for people to drop by and check out the outfits and perhaps make a donation as well.
